The best season of the year is upon us! The golden light, the crisp morning air, the fall-themed lattes… and, of course, the fashion. While I am still living in sweats (WFH for the win), fall is definitely piquing my desire to shop for new boots, coats, and a good ole sweater dress. As I researched what’s on the market, I decided that instead of writing one massive post about everything I am recommending for fall, I am going to break it up into three smaller bite-sized posts. The next three Fridays, I will post a curated selection of the products I am recommending you shop for fall. This week, let’s talk about fashion!
What to Shop for Fall in 2021
The Fashion Picks
Bags
Gone are the days of lugging around big bags. I personally love a large tote bag, but besides destroying my back, I recognize that for most short trips they just aren’t very necessary. All you need is a bag that has room for your wallet, keys, cellphone, and maybe lipgloss and small hand sanitizer because you know… ‘rona.
I love the elegance and simplicity of the Small Darley leather clutch from Mulberry. It’s basically a wallet on a chain, but roomy enough for your essentials. Mulberry also has alternate straps you can buy to customize and add versatility to your bag.
Boots
It wouldn’t be a fall fashion guide without a good pair of thigh-high boots and a few turtlenecks in sight. Luckily I have picked for both. I absolutely love Sezane and their Emilia Thigh-High Boots do not disappoint. The heel is tall but not uncomfortably so, and it hits the knee at the right spot for both style and warmth.
Sweater Dress
I love sweater dresses for fall because they are comfortable, look great, and are easy to dress up or down. Banana Republic has a really nice one this year available in a classic burnt red tone, which is very on-brand for the season, as well as a black and light pink. I am going with the pink one since I think the color compliments every skin tone.
Plaid Coat
Another fall staple is, of course, plaid. The Double Breasted Wool Blend Coat from Sam Edelman is universally flattering and plays into the plaid trend without overdoing it, thanks to the mix of neutrals. The coat does run large, so consider sizing down.
Dress
What is also great about this season is that it is all about layers, so if you are still in the mood for summer dresses, you can wear them—with the right accessories. Reformation has some versatile dresses (like the Michaela Dress) that can be easily paired with thigh-high boots or a leather jacket, making them great choices for the fall.
The Fall Accessories
In the fall, I also switch up my jewelry. I like to swap out dainty ear stacks for a bolder selection in gold tones. Second wind launched a jewelry collection of chains over the summer which I think is perfect for Fall as well. I absolutely love the chunky chain look and highly recommend the Elizabeth earrings. I also recommend their masks, which are comfortable and stylish and come with a chain that makes them easy to put on or take off.
